Formspree is the decade-old category leader for good reason. Here's where it's still the safer choice, where FormBridge pulls ahead, and how to think about switching.

Formspree has a decade-long track record and mature documentation; FormBridge offers a more usable free tier and includes routing, autoresponders, and custom-domain sending on its entry paid plan rather than gating them behind higher tiers.
We built FormBridge, so take the following with the appropriate grain of salt — but we'd rather write a fair comparison than a one-sided one. If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
Formspree has been around for over a decade. That matters: strong documentation, a large base of tutorials and Stack Overflow answers already written about it, and a track record most newer tools (FormBridge included) haven't had time to build yet. If "this vendor has been reliable for ten years" is your top decision factor, that's a real point in Formspree's favor, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Free tier. Formspree's free tier is intentionally small — enough to evaluate, not enough to run a real low-volume site on. FormBridge's free tier is built to be usable on its own, not just a trial.
Features gated by plan. On Formspree, things like conditional routing and file uploads are pushed to higher tiers. On FormBridge, routing, autoresponders, and your-own-SMTP sending are available from the entry paid plan — we don't think of them as "premium," we think of them as what a form backend should do.
Sending from your own domain. FormBridge supports connecting your own SMTP provider (Gmail, Postmark, Resend, SES, whatever you already use) so notification emails come from your domain instead of shared infrastructure. This matters more than it sounds — shared senders are more likely to land in spam as Gmail and Yahoo tighten sender requirements.
Agencies and multiple sites. If you're a freelancer or agency running forms across a dozen client sites, FormBridge's workspace model is built around that from day one. It's a smaller, newer piece of what we do — but it's a deliberate focus, not an afterthought.
Track record. This one goes to Formspree, plainly. We're newer. If vendor longevity is a hard requirement for your use case, weigh that honestly.
If you already have Formspree wired up and it's working, there's no urgency to switch. If you're starting fresh, evaluating on a real (not trial) free tier, or you've hit Formspree's pricing/feature gates and want routing or your-own-domain sending without upgrading tiers, FormBridge is worth a look.
Migrating is mostly a find-and-replace: swap the action URL on your existing <form> tags for your new FormBridge endpoint. Field names don't need to match any special convention — see field naming in the docs.
